Ingenia’s servo drives are optimized for high-speed broadband antennas & radar turntables. In these applications, the rugged communication protocols and the system’s reliability, based on specific standards and harsh environment testing, are some of the key factors for success.
Ingenia has successfully integrated servo drives in complex antenna systems where the highest accuracy and motion stability is required. Some examples of applications where our servo drive technology has been used are:
- Airborne Antennas
- Mobile & Portable Panels & Satcom Antennas (SatCom on-the-move)
- Maritime Satcom Antennas
- Gimbaled Antennas
- Radar Applications & Turntables.
- Satellite MEO, LEO, GEO & HEO Terminals
- Payload Antennas
Radar Antenna servo drive Technology
Our technology base has been designed to fulfil the specific demands of satcom & radar antenna applications. Key requirements include:
Extended Environment
Ensuring an outstanding performance in the most demanding conditions is necessary for most airborne, maritime & satcom antenna systems. Ingenia has certified servo drive products that withstand extreme shock & vibration tests, extended temperature ranges, severe dust & humidity environments as well as pressure tolerance.
MTBF, MTTF, SAFETY & RELIABILITY
Our highly reliable products have been proven in harsh environments under extreme conditions. Calculations of data such as the servo drive’s Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) can be provided to our customers upon request, as well as safety certifications for specific features like, Safe Torque Off (STO).
MIL & DAL STANDARDS COMPLIANCE
Ingenia has designed drives fulfilling the most demanding specifications, required by key-players worldwide in the antenna markets:
- MIL STD 461-F/E
- MIL-STD-1275-B/D/E
- MIL-HDBK-217F
- MIL-STD-704
UNSURPASSED EMC AND EMI PERFORMANCE
Ingenia designs servo drives using a wide range of mechanisms, delivering best-in-class EMC and EMI performance. A detailed EMC & EMI study is performed in each radar servo drive development to ensure that emissions will be minimized and immunity will be high enough for the application purpose. If necessary, embedding faraday cages and filters in the servo drive’s most sensitive areas is possible.
RS-422 AND RUGGED COMMAND SOURCES
In antenna applications, the communication protocol most commonly used is the serial communication bus. We have the flexibility to incorporate the command source protocol that fits best for the final application. The most rugged options such as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485, to the newest field buses like EtherCAT are available.
RESOLVER, SSI & BISS-C
In radars & antennas, resolver feedbacks are often used to ensure that the integrity of the signal is maintained, while still giving the most accurate position feedback to the controller. Our servo drives are compatible with the resolver feedback outputs, as well as the standard incremental and SSI or BiSS-C absolute encoders. When using digital encoders, Ingenia offers additional mechanisms to ensure the pulses are never lost, and the accuracy is optimal for the entire product life.
